So you want to go off the grid… But have you asked yourself why you want to go off grid? You no doubt have several reasons, but it’s important to articulate those reasons. Discuss them with your family and make sure everyone is on the same page.
The reason doing this is important is because there is more than one way to go off grid. Are you going to use solar panels and a hot water heater to recreate your home in the city, or are you going to live like the pioneers? Are you going to keep buying your food at the store, or are you going to grow your own food and raise your own animals? The more you talk about why you’re going off grid and what you want to accomplish, the better prepared you’ll be.
