DIY Chicken Coop You Can Build In 1 Hour

Why buy something expensive when you can make it yourself? Even a halfway decent chicken coop is going to cost you at least $100, probably more. But what if I told you it's possible to get a great chicken coop for only $50?

If you own chickens, like DIY projects, and you have an hour to spare, you should try this homemade chicken coop by Off Grid with Doug & Stacy.

All you need to build this are three 2×6's, some cattle panels, some chicken wire, and a tarp. You'll also need some nails and zip ties to hold it all together.

Of course, there are a few more details, but you can follow along with the video below.

If you don't already have the materials, they should only cost you about $50. The project is pretty basic and should only take an hour. Watch the video below to see how to do it.

      1. good idea……except the first night the raccoons would rip the tarp, reach in thru the wire…..dismember the chickens so it is easier to pull them out to eat or simply dismember them for the heck of it……..

        • Yup, they can sure find their way in through any week spot in your coop. And it doesn’t take them long to decimate a flock of chickens. This coop is also an open invitation to skunks, ‘possums, weasels, foxes, and snakes. I know – been there!

      2. what i would use is 1/4 by 1/4 inch wire instead of the chicken wire because the holes are too big on the chicken wire…….love all your homestead videos!
