Through several email conversations, I've learned that many of the people visiting this site don't actually have a homestead yet. They're doing what they can where they live, but for most of them, having a chunk of land for homesteading is a long-term goal.
This is great, but when setting goals, it's best to have a specific plan rather than vague dreams. With a more specific goal, it will be easier for you to figure out what steps you need to take to achieve that goal. So rather than thinking, “It'd be nice to have some land someday,” you should think, “I'm going to save up and buy this much land.”
That's where this video by An American Homestead comes in. How much land do you actually need for homesteading? It really depends on what you want to achieve. Watch the video below for an overview of what it takes to achieve various levels of independence.
Whoa, whoa, whoa…I clicked on this to read an article, not watch a video. Sometimes I just want to sit back, drink a beer, play some Commodores and read. This is one of those times. You want me mute Lionel Ritchie and listen to you? How arrogant and smug you must be.
