30 Foods That Can Last Up To 30 YearsA lot of factors affect the shelf life of food: light, heat, humidity, and so forth. But one of the most important factors is the food itself. Some foods simply last longer than others, no matter the storage conditions.

In this video from the Youtube channel, Reality Survival, JJ talks about the top 30 foods that can last up to 30 years when stored properly. The specific ranges and shelf-lives are discussed in the video, as well as some conflicting dates for some of the items.

Foods that are hermetically sealed in either #10 cans or mylar bags with oxygen absorbers have a longer shelf-life than the same foods that are conventionally packaged. Those variances and options are also discussed in the video.

Here’s the list of the top 30 foods:

  1. Dried rice
  2. Dried kidney beans
  3. Dried pinto beans
  4. Dried black beans
  5. Wheat berries (make sure you have a flour grinder)
  6. Salt
  7. Raw honey
  8. Sugar
  9. White vinegar
  10. 100% raw maple syrup
  11. Ghee (clarified butter that doesn’t require refrigeration)
  12. Corn starch
  13. Soy sauce
  14. Pure vanilla extract (the real stuff, not imitation)
  15. Apple cider vinegar
  16. Baking soda
  17. Chicken bouillon cubes and Beef bouillon cubes
  18. Raw cocoa powder
  19. Corn syrup
  20. Popcorn
  21. Dried pasta
  22. Instant dry potato flakes
  23. Oatmeal
  24. Tea bags
  25. Dried lentils
  26. Brown sugar

  28. Dried powdered milk
  29. Dehydrated hash browns

There are 70 additional foods that should also be considered, and the video covers how to get access to that list in addition to other information on foods for long-term food storage. Learn more by watching it below.

Hi, what happens after you open up your 25 lb bag of sugar that you stored in a mylar bag? Will you need more oxygen absorbers to seal it back up again?

In the case of sugar, I wouldn’t worry about more oxygen absorbers. However, you’ll want to keep it seals to make sure pests don’t get to it.
