If you can't afford to build a perimeter fence around your property, start with your animal pen. There are many types of animal pens, but what's really important is that it's easy to build and sturdy enough to last a long time.
So what does Becky from Becky's Homestead suggest? Hog panels and horse panels! These panels are made of wire railing that criss-cross, forming a grid. They come in 16-foot sections so you don't have to unroll them or stretch them out. And there's no way an animal could get through them unless they knock them down, which is very unlikely as long as you attach them to sturdy posts.
